ESD Acetal - The Strength of Metal in a Plastic

If you need a plastic that has the strength of metal, look no further than acetal. This thermoplastic offers excellent tensile, impact, fatigue, and wear properties as well as low friction and good dimensional stability. It also performs well at high and low temperatures, and has a resistance to moisture, solvents, and other chemicals. It is easy to machine, and can be molded into complex shapes for precision parts.

esd acetal is a POM (Polyoxymethylene) copolymer with a static dissipating agent added. It is available in natural and black, and provides antistatic, conductivity, and electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding functionality. It is used in electronic, aviation, and automotive industries.

Homopolymer acetal, or Delrin, does not offer the same level of stability as esd acetal. It has centerline porosity, which can allow liquid and gas leakages, and bacterial growth under certain conditions. This makes it unsuitable for food processing applications. Copolymer acetal is free of centerline porosity and is suitable for many wet applications.

Acme Plastics stocks acetal rods and sheets in any shape, size, or color you need. For more information, contact us today. We can help you choose the right acetal for your application. Our stock items ship within three days of your order and our custom-cut orders can be shipped in just a few weeks.
