Polyetherimide / PEI

Polyetherimide , abbreviated as PEI , is a translucent amber-colored high-performance plastic with good sterilizability and high mechanical strength over a wide temperature range.

PEI is flame retardant and has low smoke development in case of fire. It is resistant to UV, gamma radiation and chemicals. Polyetherimide is almost transparent to infrared light, visible light and microwave radiation and approved for direct contact with food. 

PEI sheet and PEI rod are often used in applications where high temperatures, chemical resistance, mechanical strength and dimensional stability are required. Some examples of applications are medical devices, aerospace components, automotive parts, electronic components and industrial machinery.
